IELS Language School

Location
The Institute of English Language Studies has two departments, one in Sliema on Malta, the other in Marsalforn on Gozo. The school in Sliema is open all year round (except for Christmas), whereas the department on Gozo is open only from 5 May to 3 November. The location of both schools is suitable for interesting activities, but as Gozo is the calmer one of the Maltese islands, the summer school there is especially recommended for students preferring a more peaceful and relaxing stay.

Courses
The range of courses includes general language courses, individual lessons (one-to-one course), intensive courses in small groups, business English and preparation courses for Cambridge examinations, all of them from elementary to advanced levels.
The general language course is intended for students who need to communicate effectively in everyday English. It starts every Monday and takes place in groups of 10 students at most. Participants in this course are taught 20 lessons per week, each lesson being 45 minutes.

Leisure Activities
There are opportunities for all kinds of sports, such as diving, sailing, windsurfing, tennis, climbing and abseiling. The school staff helps the students to organize the participation in these activities. Those who are interested in Malta's culture can take part in many excursions arranged by the school (e.g. to Mdina and Valletta, the Blue Grotto, Gozo).

Accommodation
You can choose between homestays and hotels. The host families normally are between 5 and 30 minutes on foot from the school. The list of hotel-accommodations contains apartments of different levels of comfort. For both kinds of accommodation double rooms are standard. If you prefer a single room, you have to pay a supplement.

Prices
The general language course with accommodation in a host family costs 83 liri (about 206 euros) during off-season and 111 LM (about 275 euros) during peak season per week. The price includes 20 lessons, registration and placement fees, tuition materials, airport transfers and accommodation. If one decides to stay several weeks, the price per week will be slightly lower. Prices for accommodation in a hotel depend on the level of comfort the hotel offers. Supplements have to be paid for any other courses than general English.
