No Bargaining at the Bazaar
The bustling Sunday morning bazaar in Valletta was reminded
us strongly that the Arab heritage in Malta includes more
than the islanders' Semitic language. We bargained with the
market sellers on CDs, filagree jewellery, pieces of coral.
At our bazaar back in Siegen, the polite Market visitors bought
souvenirs - but without bargaining! They purchased attractive
bookmarks, crafted by Carolin Fries and Melanie
Lenk, as well as "Maltese Falcon" tickets (see
below) for the lottery - the prize was tickets for the new
film "Count of Monte Cristo," filmed in Malta and
Ireland!
