After attending the early church service at St. Patrick's Cathedral, the excursioners traveled on the DART train to Malahide, a picturesque seaside town with a castle. Then on to equally picturesque Howth, the former Dublin harbor, with its rock formations like the eye of a needle (the "Eye of Ireland"), which was the last sight all the Irish immigrants had of their homeland. The chief adventure of the excursion then took place: the Cliff Walk, a hike along the cliffs overlooking the Irish Sea. Back in Dublin, students were not too tired to go to Fitzsimon's and enjoy the Irish dancing and live music that evening.
