Maltese Culinary Culture
For preparing our Maltese Market on June 13th in the Audimax
foyer, I participated in the "Maltese Café"
project. First of all we had to plan how we would like to
present our project and which snacks and drinks we would sell.
We decided to prepare several kinds of typical Maltese snacks,
e.g. hobz-bis-zejt, pastizzis and kannoli. For beverages we
offered Maltese cocktails with and without alcohol. Furthermore
we wanted to sell the most important and famous Maltese drink:
Kinnie, a kind of lemonade made of oranges and herbs. But
this drink was difficult to obtain. In Germany there is only
one importer.
We set up the café in front of the Audimax. Everybody
who wanted to join the Maltese Market had to pass the café.
So we could sell all our food, which we had prepared at home,
and even the "Kinnie" was sold out quickly, although
we had thought nobody would drink it straight!
