Finally the day of the great Irish
Fair arrived! After hours of work everything was set up for the visitors:
shining pictures, maps and stories taped on display boards, the smell of
Irish food in the air and Irish music softly playing in the background. Leaving the area in front of the Audimax, it looked empty
and all the glamour and shine of the Irish Fair was gone, but it stays
in our mind as a project of team-work and just a nice day of sharing.
But as always, time passed faster than anybody wanted it to. The programme
was over, we had somebody win the prize in our lottery, almost all the food
had been sold and even the last few visitors had left. Our Irish Fair looked
empty without people coming and wandering around. The time had come to clean
up and put everything away! With bleeding hearts we had to take all the
projects off the display boards, garlands, posters and tons of ballons had
to leave the place and pictures had to be given back to their owners. The
display boards had to be taken apart and locked in a room, and all the tables
had to be carried back to their original place. Nobody was as motivated
as we had been for the preparation had started, but understandably it is
much more fun to prepare a party than to tidy up the place after the party
is over. The good part about tidying up was the little left-overs of the
delicious food, so we could build up our strength to carry away the last
tables and display boards.
