The climax of our Fair was provided by two musicians; Liz Stringer, an
Australian student with Irish forebears, sang and accompanied herself
on the guitar, and Tim Pietsch, a pupil from Dillenburg doing an internship
at the University, played the fiddle. (Notice that their backdrop is the
exhibit for the "Pub Music and Literary Dublin" group.) We certainly thank
them tremendously for their excellent performance!!
The audience enthusiastically sang the final song along with Liz and Tim.
"Wild Rover," with the same melody as the well-known German "An der Nordseeküste…"
This tune was a favorite at the pubs in Dublin and had become our excursion
theme-song, which we loved to sing bilingually and included in the excursion
film!
