A highlight of
our Fair was definitely the Irish pub. Thanks to the "Bierhaus" (Marburger
Tor, Siegen), we were able to serve Guinness in cans and bottles, Kilkenny
beer, and Harp lager. The "Bierhaus" also supplied Guinness accessories,
and the Irish Cottage Pub in Neunkirchen lent us pint glasses and pub
décor. Charles Domoranol, Nicole Franzke, and Kerstin Gerhardus
worked the entire day setting up the bar, selling the beer, and cleaning
up afterwards; as you can tell from the photo, they were a cheerful team!
The pub served as a focal point for Fair visitors, who extended the Fair
to the outside amphitheatre where students enjoyed their beer in the June
sun.
We couldn't have organized the pub without the support of Elmar Köninger,
the head of the Uni "Verpflegungsbetriebe"; he mediated the beer and décor,
arranged for cooling and transport, and gave us needed advice on the correct
way to serve the beverages - he knows how much we appreciated his help
and interest!
