Intercultural Understanding at Home

One of my most inspiring moments happened not directly on holiday or in another country, but rather during was my own sort of holiday this summer.

Last month I went to four concerts by the band "böhse onkelz." I was in Mannheim, Berlin, and in Dortmund twice. As you maybe know, there are some really bad stories and lies going around about that band and their fans. We are all Nazis, always violent…

But these concerts proved all of them wrong. At every concent, no matter where it was, there were thousands of different people: people with mohawks, dreadlocks, long hair, no hair, rastafarians, young people and old people and also disabled people in wheelchairs.

If these people, or at least some of them, would meet each other on the street, they might directly start to beat each other up. But not at the concerts! They were all standing arm in arm, next to each other in front of the stage and singing as loudly as they could. Absolutely not violence, no hate, just an amazing and peaceful mood. In my eyes this can be found nowhere else, only there, at such concerts. Thank you!
