Azure Ocean

I'm quite sure everyone has a certain colour in mind when (s)he thinks of the ocean. Before I spend that week in Malta I thought of a dark blue-green in connection with the Mediterranean. But now since I my return, I cannot forget that very special colour of the Maltese Sea.

The blue is not quite as dark as indigo, though there there is a touch of it. The Maltese water is brighter, but not as bright as the sky or as bright as some people's eyes. It has a shade of turquoise like precious stones.

I find no real comparison to the shining azure of the Maltese Sea. It is very difficult to describe. One must have seen it to believe that water can have such an impressive colour. Maybe some of the photos on this website capture that unique blue!
