When we started our "Irish Fair" project at the beginning of the semester I had problems imagining how it would develop. Honestly, I wasn't sure whether we would really be able to capture the interest of the other students at the university. During the next classes we started to work out our ideas and discovered how much fun that was.

We had to climb several hills (but no real mountains) to reach our goal. Klara managed to get two great Irish flags which her husband produced in the company he works for. Then we were preoccupied with finding a place to hang these huge flags to catch everyone's attention when the Fair visitors approached the Audimax foyer. So Nina, Cathy and I were running around the place, "climbing" tables (we nearly risked our lives), and finally searching for the right tape to stick the flags onto the walls to the right and the left of the stairway.

Another funny example of our problems to decorate the Fair area was when we tried for a long time to blow up hundreds of tiny green, orange, and white balloons (for your information: they are cheaper than big ones) when Klara had the wonderful idea to buy balloons of a normal size, no matter what the price.

When I came to the Uni on that special Wednesday, the day of the Fair, I wasn't sure what would be in store for me there. And I was surprised about all the people at the Fair drinking Guinness and buying the shamrock cards we had crafted - about which Mary had said she would "eat a broom" if anybody bought a single one of them (you know what you have to do now, Mary!). It was a very lively atmosphere but what me pleased most was to hear someone say: "This Fair shows that there are certainly active 'Anglistik' students at the University of Siegen!"
