becoming acquainted

This is how the students described their neighbor's eyes:

Eyes like the sky - blue with a small brown spot like a bird flying in the sky. The eyes of a singer trying to find a text for a new song. Smiling eyes like a sunny day with a cloudless azure sky.

When I look in her eyes I see a warm and friendly colour. The colour is brown and golden. It reminds me of falling leaves, dancing in the orange autumn sun. The sparkling amber eyes are half encircled by long black lashes, giving her a beautiful expression. Glasses make the eyes look more secret, somehow hidden - like a treasure.

The color of her eyes is difficult to define. It's a mixture of brown and green. Not very striking? I look again. Her eyes are innocent and kind. Somehow they radiate tolerance. They are definitely modest because they don't gaze at me. Only a glance because we don't know each other very well. Have you noticed that you can't really look someone in the eyes if you've just met? But I can already imagine that her eyes shine and sparkle when she thinks of things that are more exciting than the University!

It is no coincidence that X is studying English and Spanish - her eyes obviously reflect her interest in a warm and open-minded country like Spain. Her friendly look is as charming as the hospitality of the Spanish population itself. The dark brown colour of her sparkling eyes indicates a hidden Latin temper which might be part of her German character. In addition to that her long eyelashes give her eyes a touch of mystery, like an attractive but determined young Spanish woman.

brown eye Sparkling brown eyes show interest in the world,
open for everything around,
open hands and arms to embrace the world
and welcome it into her life.
The eyes see whatever approaches,
smiling all the time.
The hands touch what's near
to see the rest of what's new.
Yet the strong will to go her own way
is mirrored in her eyes.
Or is it that her alert eyes
Show her will the right path?

X has bright, round eyes. Her defined eyebrows and full eyelashes catch your attention when you're speaking with her. Her eyes laugh as she is laughing; then they begin to sparkle and reflect her feelings at that moment. They also express something about her personality and her character; one look in her eyes tells you that she must be a loving person with a kind heart.

Just a few minutes ago I met a fellow student. We sat down in a corner of the room, away from the others. Immediately we started to ask questions, to get to know more about each other: "What are your subjects? Where do you come from? Have you ever been to England?" We both talked in a low voice and she told me she studied Spanish, a language she already learned at school. Suddenly I realised that her eyes seemed special to me, but why? She didn't wear any make-up, at least I couldn't make out any traces. It must have been their colour, yes. But what colour? I'm absolutey sure they were neither blue nor grey. So they must have been either brown or green. Let me think...I would have noticed if they were brown like mine. Brown eyes, especially dark brown ones, are relatively rare. No, her eyes didn't have the brown-eye glow - they were more distant, shone remotely in her face. And now it strikes me: They were green with only a hint of brown. Not clearly defined, somehow: mysterious, difficult to interpret.
Hazel eyes looking at me.

And here's a poem about "eyes" called Dotting the Eye and Falling in Love:

I
I eyed his mysterious blue eye.
Can he go through the eye of a needle?
Is he i-dle?
Can he be my i-con?

eye
Big Eye
eye of the storm
eye of Big Brother?
eye of God

Aye!
