For me the “highlight” of our excursion was clearly the dynamic and cooperative group itself. I was pleased to see the young people taking on responsibility so readily, solving problems with good humor, and heartily enjoying small moments. What a spectrum of mood swings! Quietly contemplative at the Evensong service in the Minster, cheerily singing dozens of English songs during our bus trips, professionally serious during the school visits, and politely defiant toward the rude Dutch steward. Here you see the girls in our York campus house on their way to the local pub – having just put on their best make-up and their most tantalizing perfume, they’re all excited and acting a little crazy. How could such enthusiastic excursioners not be dear to their teachers’ hearts?! |
