Singing in the Bus!

by Adrien Knabe

Pointing out which of the many excursion highlights I like best seems to me quite difficult. I remember many places and events that impressed me a lot: I liked York with its big Roman walls, “bars” (= gates) and especially Clifford Tower. York Minster was amazing! I loved the moorlands we crossed in the steam train and it was great to be at Whitby Abbey, followed by a barefoot walk at Whitby beach.

So, what did I like best?

Maybe, besides all these beautiful cultural sights, it was the singing in the bus. Almost all of the 50 excursioners, so it seemed to me, took part in a two-hour sing-along of 60s, 70s, 80s and modern music. No one cared whether they were almost perfect singers or not, and that created such a great atmosphere that the two-hour drive seemed like a five-minute ride.

I think this will stay in my memory for a long time, so thank you all! A round of applause for ourselves!
