Last summer the General Language Course II traveled to Dublin to provide an authentic focus for coursework. This year we decided to journey to Malta, a less well-known English-speaking country with a rich cultural heritage. One of our students, Matthias Merzhäuser, is half-Maltese and proved to be an excellent organizer and travel guide for the 41 participants from the GLC (second-semester students) and the English Department at large.

We combined the excursion itself (May 6-13) with a Maltese Market (June 13) at which we presented the results of the excursion projects to the University and local community in a colorful event with Maltese food, drink, music, puppet show, and new media presentations. In addition, we have documented the excursion and the market in this website.
