The Contemporary Writers' Forum field trip on 9 May 2001 to hear T.C. Boyle read from his new novel "A Friend of the Earth" was certainly a special experience for all the participants! The Mayersche Buchhandlung in Cologne was filled with TCB fans who enthusiastically applauded his perceptive comments on the environment as well as his readings from his apocalyptic novel and the thematically related short story "Hopes Rise." Boyle was very communicative - he spoke to us personally, autographed our books, and posed for this picture!

The creative writing class (summer semester 2001) has "published" a magazine entitled "Frogs and Friends" which documents the students' attempts to learn from T.C. Boyle's prose strategies. You might be impressed! Copies of the magazine are available in AR-H 214.
