It was like being on vacation in a foreign
country; I was exploring a new mall in my old hometown of Chemnitz. But
instead of looking at the shiny shops and elaborate décor, I found myself
observing a women - among the hectic shoppers she just stood there, stood
still in the shade of a small apple tree in the middle of the shopping center's
indoor park. Her face remained raised towards the abundance of spring's
white and pink blossoms above her head. While she seemed to soak in the
beauty, an aura of peace surrounded her, strong enough to touch me passing
by. Being a little curious, I searched for her face. She lowered her gaze
and our eyes met, just for the blink of an eye - and her eyes were full
of wonder, abundant with life and thankfulness. Eyes that were eyes, consciously,
right now. I scolded myself: "You're crazy to think like that and be inspired
about a woman you don't even know!" About an hour later I saw her again.
It was only then that I realized her to be, obviously as their leader, surrounded
by a group of blind teenagers.
I realized that I didn't have to travel far to see things with new eyes.
In other words, insights can be gained even at home!
