As a class exercise, pairs of students worked together to answer this question: How would you describe the following moment (experienced by Christiane) in a haiku poem?
Driving through the countryside on a dark day, I saw on the horizon a row of skeleton-like trees, suddenly lit up by a ray of sunshine coming through a break in the clouds.
A hole in the sky -
the light is shining on us
A golden halo
The skeleton trees
suffocating my doomed soul
in endless despair
darkness surrounding
silence passes through the night
sudden ray of light
black trees like skeletons
reaching for the leaden sky -
who turns on the light?
In the cage of black
Pay attention, hope comes through
The evil surrenders
Early spring-time sky
Baroque painting through the clouds
Lights up earth in gold
piercing through the dark,
fighting with the heavy clouds,
the sun breaking through
Light is coming through
a line of skeleton trees
and a leaden sky
Driving in my car
sky like lead, sleketon trees
sunshine through a hole
The whole world is dark
Somebody turned off the light
Look there is a torch!
Nature looks lovely
Cars like mine will destroy it
with poisonous fumes
Hills, Clouds, and Trees
Daniel Kürzinger
These green hills look soft
cushions, once laid out for us
to catch us falling
wind blows clouds around
tears up these watery ghosts
reveals a blank sky
birds that won't fly south
hang in trees by threads, like bags
make a swaying sound
Summer I: Surrounded
Florian Gelling
Swimming in a lake
After a while it is hard
to distinguish here
Am I a mammal?
Or do I already have
gills like these fishes?
No one can tell me
But it seems like I'll be here
every day this week
Summer II: Happy
Florian Gelling
Today on a grill
the sun also is sunburnt
but with pleasure now
Claudia Kettner's Haiku and Love-Poems:
Transient
gorgeous butterfly
wings past me - very swiftly
just seconds of joy
Change of Perspective
Blue-grey from above -
But below the sea's surface
there is a whole world.
Desperate Love-Poem I
That which you love most
In the end will be
That which takes your life away.
Desperate Love-Poem II
Tell me you love me
Even if you don't mean it
I just need to hear.
Desperate Love-Poem III
You turn around, you smile at me
I feel at home
That's all I need -
you are meant for me.
Night Sky
Julia Albrecht
the stars in the sky
sparkling and winking at me
like heavenly smiles
Shine
Achim Zeuch
The grass is burning
in the careless summer heat
Remembrance - golden.
Together
Achim Zeuch
Unleashing a flash -
catching every atom
beyond our body.
Diurnal Cycle
Olaf Schauerte
in the wake of night
the sun scales the virgin sky
a warming embrace
a resurrection
caressing the horizon
orange golden glow
the sky is crying
meandering rivulets
tears on my window
time is relentless
endless transitoriness
marching on and on
