Stonehenge and Friends

Our little group of three people was called "Stonehenge and friends". This project was all about the remarkable landmarks which Mesolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age people left in Wiltshire. For us the most important goal was to capture the reactions of excursionists during our outings to Stonehenge and find out what the people of Bath think about it. So we were planning to interview people, take pictures and prepare a presentation for our meeting after the excursion.
However, it turned out that people wanted a tour around Stonehenge and Avebury Ring, the other pre-Roman sight we visited. So we were happy to guide the so-called "Inner Circle tour" on Wednesday and the tour around Avebury Ring on Sunday. Some of the "Inner Circle people" followed us on a tour to the barrows around Stonehenge on Sunday, while others went with the second group which saw Stonehenge from a greater distance.
aveburyIt was really interesting to find that the opinions about Stonehenge of excursionists were quite varied. Of the "Inner Circle people" some really liked it, some thought it was very small and others thought it was too expensive.
When we were asking the people of Bath about Stonehenge it turned out that especially the older people shared their opinions quite openly. And it was a pleasant experience, since they were interested in hearing what a group of German students thought about Bath.
We created a slideshow illustrating the interview we had conducted with students and the Bath natives. The film is available on the excursion Photo DVD.
All in all, being part of the Stonehenge and Friends group was a lot of fun and a very informative experience which brought us into contact with our fellow excursionists and the people of Bath.
