Bath and the surrounding area have served as the setting for over 200 films! Because of its Roman Baths, Georgian buildings and other outstanding architecture, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Bath has provided filmmakers with a unique set for films with a historical background. Furthermore the famous novelists Jane Austen and Thomas Hardy lived there for some time. The plots of the popular Austen novels Persuasion and Northanger Abbey are partly set in Bath. For our presentation the Bath Film Office kindly provided us with a complete list of the films shot in Bath and its environs.
