city and countryside

My highlight of this excursion was definitely our short trip to the coast. The hilly landscape of the Exmoor National Park was overwhelming and although the weather was grey I found the villages Lynton and Lynmouth, situated on the cliff line of Exmoor National Park, had a certain lovely charm, which was intensified by their narrow streets and the Victorian cliff railway.
In Lynmouth I went to the beach, collecting shells and enjoying the view of the sea and of the coast of Wales.
This trip was a real highlight for me and greatly impressed me. Now I would love to go there again -maybe as a backpacker next time.
But of course Bath was very impressive, too. The historic monuments, for example the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent and the Circus as well as the interesting history of this city make Bath itself a true highlight.
The limestone buildings contribute to a very special atmosphere in Bath: it is not only a historic and traditional city, but a city that found a way of combining its modernity with its historical charm.
We surely were lucky because our memory of Bath is full of nice warm sunshine, which definitely enhanced the atmosphere of this beautiful city and made us look upon 'the bright side of Bath'.
