Our day trip to the area of North Devon - including the enchanting bus driver Kevin - was indeed a highlight for me: the marvellous view of the moorland with its smooth hills, high cliffs, its horses, sheep and cow herds and access to the inner wilderness of Exmoor with its deer and ponies. After a bumpy and exciting ride downhill we reached Lynmouth. I believe Kevin's words "Everyone who is afraid of heights should close their eyes now - mine are already closed!" stayed in our minds. The small fishing town is located in a narrow valley at the foot of the cliffs and faces the ocean. Lynmouth has a harbour and is connected with Lynton - a small town on top of the cliffs - by the Cliff Railway. The railway is water-powered and was built to exchange goods and transport people from Lynmouth to Lynton. The ride up to Lynton was quite an experience and offered an extraordinary panorama of Lynmouth, the ocean and the cliffs. Lynton offered beautiful small streets, an old church and an even more exciting view from the top of the cliffs down to Lynmouth and the oceanside.
